Hey - I'm Erin Aasland and I truly believe in capturing candid in-the-heart moments over posed ones, as well as interactions with loved ones and all those beautiful in-between moments as your day unfolds. Because that is what you remember most; the connections, the full-laughter, the tears and heartfelt emotions — the essence of life.
... for a love which makes your soul shine.
“Erin is incredibly talented and working with her was a dream. We are so in love with our photos from our engagement session. She made us feel so comfortable behind the camera and brought the silly and goofy out of us. We cannot thank her enough for our stunning gallery and can’t wait for our next session!”
... romantic souls leaving happy words.
Documentary Wedding Photography focuses more on interactions and connections as they happen naturally vs. capturing something that is staged or overly posed. This style helps provide an accurate representation of the people and events throughout your whole wedding day — so your images will showcase true-life reactions and candid moments, and not forcing you to be or act in a way that is not natural to you. It also includes a lot of storytelling details about your day, to provide that full representation of how your wedding looked and felt.

wedding photography?
Yes — I feel it is really important to make sure that you vibe with your photographer, as this is someone who is with you throughout your entire day and you want their vision to match with yours!
After your inquiry, I will set up a quick video call to say "hello" so we can get to know each other. From there, we can discuss the vision for your wedding, coverage options that would best fit your needs, and answer any other questions you may have.

Candid Wedding Photography is a style that focuses on capturing authentic unposed "as it happens" moments and emotions throughout your wedding day, without any posing, guidance, or staging by the photographer. The focus here is more on the people.
During certain events of the day, such as Cocktail Hour or the Ceremony for example, I tend to gravitate to this style and focus on all those beautiful candid reactions and moments of the event, as they provide a very real and intimate perspective of that specific moment. It is not my focus for the whole day, as I feel there are certain aspects of events that do need my guidance. We can still make those moments have a candid documentary feel, but they are better photographed with everyone on the same page and understanding what you are going for photo wise.

At minimum, you will receive 50 images per hour. I make sure that all images delivered are based in my shooting style vs. just being super trigger happy and delivering a bunch of “filler” images. The images in your gallery are thought out, meaning there is a reason I am taking them... the light, the shadows, the subtle looks, smiles, touches — this all helps to ensure that what is delivered to your final gallery is something that you will cherish.
how many images are delivered in a wedding gallery?
Totally.
“What do I do with my hands??” — I hear this a lot, lol. But don’t stress at all. I have a ton of prompts and little games to play that help break the ice, get you both laughing and having a good time. Or just stand there being awkward as f* and I will make you look awesome anyways - either way, I got you!
we are awkward af when getting photos taken - is that ok??
Adding a second shooter to your wedding day coverage is beneficial...
(1) if you and your partner want getting ready coverage but need to do so at the same time, or if getting ready off-site in different locations.
(2) if you have more than 150 guests, so we can move around the crowd better during events.
(3) if you are having overlapping events, such as cocktail hour and family portraits.
In addition, having a second shooter provides more coverage and different angles of the ceremony, as well as other events of the day. When the need arrises, I work with vetted second shooters, as I want to make sure they fit as closely to my shooting style as possible.
do you use a second shooter and why would we need one?
They love the details, but care more so about making memories on the first day of their marriage. The wedding timeline is full of things important to them, not what society says they should have. Venues are chosen with special meaning and reflect how beautifully Seattle and the PNW has imprinted on their lives.
Their love is a celebration of emotional connections with friends and family, wiping away tears when the moment gets the best of them, and dancing their asses off with no care as to who sees.
If you connect with all this, then I'm definitely your kind of wedding photographer!
